ALBANY, GA -- It took longer than expected, but Albany State football officially finalized a full schedule for the 2011 season on Monday afternoon.

The Golden Rams filled its open, week three date on September 17 with a familiar South Georgia rival- Valdosta State. Quite the relief for Golden Rams head coach Mike White.

“For us, this late in the season just to be completing your schedule…when most schedules are completed in December and January. Yea, it’s great to have that done and behind us,” White said.

The Blazers and Rams played ten straight times earlier in the decade before ASU officials ended the series in 2007. Valdosta dominated Albany State in that meeting 41-3 in Valdosta.

Currently, the schools have only agreed to the one game at Albany State for this season.

“It’ll be a good game, a sold-out crowd…it’s always exciting. They’re a good football team, and we’ll have to play a great game to come out on top,” White said. “But that’s kind of down the road…we have to get ourselves together first.”

ASU begins fall football practice the second week of August.
