SYLVESTER, GA -- Worth County baseball took a break from region play Monday night for a match-up with Baconton Charter in Sylvester.

It was tied at one until the 4th inning. Worth County pushed three runs across due to Baconton miscues. An errant throw from first to third on a slow chopper up the third baseline pushed the Ram advantage to 4-1.

Everything completely imploded on the Blazers in the fifth. Worth County scored six more runs, and were able to close out the game 10-1.

Worth (3-1, 10-6 overall) and Cairo (3-1, 7-8 overall) meet on Tuesday in an important 3A-Region 1 match.

“Cairo is a fundamentally sound team and they are well-coached. They don’t make a lot of mistakes mentally and historically they’ve put a good product on the field. Anytime you’ve got teams at the top of the region playing each other…they’re always big. Doesn’t matter if it’s the first week or it’s the last week playing Westover,” Worth County coach Will Smith said.
