(AP) -- If there's one team the Celtics don't want to see while riding a double-digit winning streak, it's the Lakers. On Christmas Day in L.A., the Lakers snapped Boston's franchise-record
19-game winning streak and gained a bit of revenge for losing to the Celtics in last season's NBA Finals. Thursday night in Boston, Lamar Odom drained a pair of free throws with 16 seconds left in overtime to give the Lakers a 110-109 victory, ending the defending champs' 12-game winning streak.
Kobe Bryant had 10 rebounds to go along with his 26 points, and teammate Pau Gasol added 24 points and 14 boards to help the Lakers to their fifth straight win.
By sweeping the season series, the Lakers are assured of the tiebreaker should the two teams finish tied for the best record in the NBA at the end of the regular season. Boston is currently 41-10, while the Lakers sit at 40-9.
