ALBANY, GA -- The playoff lights were shining brightest at the Palace in Tift County. Par for the 2012-13 season, the sort of special attention didn’t bother the Blue Devils.
Heralded by most as the state's best high school team, the Blue Deviled basketball stars, stayed true to their own expectations in a 70-48 first round win over McEachern.
Blue Devils Tadric Jackson and Brannen Greene remedied a 10-2 early deficit to snag a 17-14 lead after the first quarter. Tift County will host Westlake in the second round of the state playoffs.
Westover’s High Flying Act Too Much for North Clayton
Westover and the Patriot pride went on some kind of run to win the AAAA-Region 1 championship. After Wednesday, Westover showed they have more than pride—they have talent for an extended playoff run.
The Patriots showed the goods in a highlight-packed 84-59 rout of North Clayton. Senior standouts Kel Miller and T.J. Cromer spent most of their time hanging on the rim leading the team with 23 and 21 points respectively.
Westover will host Westside, Macon in the second round of the state playoffs.
