ALBANY, GA --
First Update (1/15/13)
The Albany Journal is reporting via letter to the editor that a letter writing campaign to help Charley B's keep their alcohol license has been launched by citizens in Southwest Georgia.

Initial Story (1/14/13)
Albany City Commissioners are in the middle of a special called meeting discussing alcohol license renewal for "Charley B's", a local bar on Dawson Road.

Commissioners are hearing testimony from several patrons of the popular night spot who were involved in late night altercations at the bar.

Also scheduled to testify are multiple officers that patrol the bar regularly from the Albany Police Department.

Frankie Tillman, owner of Charley B's, is currently testifying.

He stated that he has owned the bar since 1994, and has never had his alcohol license called into question.

Tillman plans to have off-duty officers on duty at his bar should his license be renewed.

The owner states that if anyone starts a fight or hits one of his patrons, he immediately files a criminal report against them and has them restricted from the property.

Ownership for the Huntington Apartments behind Charley B's also testified expressing their concerns with noise around the area.

Owners say they have had tenants not resign their lease because of the drastic noise coming from the bar.

The apartment owners emphasized that this has gone on since the business began in 1994, and they are ready for it to stop with the removal of the liquor license.

The hearing has concluded and the decision will be made at the evening commission meeting on January 22nd.
