The murder case involving the shooting death of a local business man has been postponed due to issues relating to parts of the case.

A hearing was scheduled Monday afternoon for Jordan Harris and other suspects in connection to the 2010 murder of P & P Garden and Hardware owner Walter Phelps.

Phelps was shot in the shoulder during that armed robbery. He later died at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

While Jordan Harris is the suspected gunman in the case, Jamon Carter has pled guilty to a related charge from this case.

He's set to be sentenced within the next few weeks.

“He has not pled guilty to the homicide but he has pled guilty to a related charge from this case and he will be undergoing a pre-sentence investigation and will be sentenced at a later date by the court,” said Greg Edwards, Dougherty County District Attorney.

Edwards says the trial for Jordan Harris, Ezekial James, Roderick Ferrell and Ryan Richardson will take place in March or April.
