ADEL, GA -- Much like in competition, the Cook High football team likes to get a head-start on its opponents. That plan follows in to Hornets practice, as well.

The 2012 Cook team is a group of early-risers. To beat the heat during the summer, Hornet head coach Ken Cofer started his practices bright and early at 5:30 AM. Now, the Hornets welcome their classmates to campus continuing that trend through the school year.

The Hornets didn't see any ill effects beating Worth County 36-2 in their season opener last week. Actually, the players complained about an afternoon practice, so Cofer says the early morning catch and tackle will stick around for a while.

“It's been a blessing for us...we're used to it, the coaches are used to it. The first day of school I made it in the afternoon instead of that morning, and we had so many complaints from the kids and coaches,” Coach Cofer said.

Cook hosts Crisp County on Friday looking for their second win of the season.
