SYLVESTER, GA -- For Worth County football, an appearance in the state playoffs isn’t good enough anymore. The Rams have been building chemistry this summer, and 2012 results are the only numbers that matter.

Worth County has reached the playoffs the past two years, but have come up empty in both seasons.

“We didn't play together like a close-knit family like we do this year. We just had to keep working hard this summer. We knew we had to get better- we're all tired of going 5-5 and losing out in the first round of the playoffs,” Offensive Tackle Kevin Smith said.

The strength of the 2012 Rams depends on the strength of Smith and the offensive line. Worth County is bringing back eleven returning starters from 2011 (seven on offense, four on defense).

All five offensive linemen have game experience, and they will be relied upon to open holes for an assortment of tailbacks. The Rams live and die by their ground game, and that’s not likely to change this year.

“For us, I think it's more about "want to" than it is anything. Up front, we instill in our guys that this is what we're going to do. This is who we are…you have to go with what can get you there,” Rams Head Coach Scotty Ward said.

If Worth County needs to throw the ball, they have a talented quarterback to use. Senior Eli Reddell is one of the best passers Coach Ward has ever had on a Worth County roster.

The Rams open the season August 24 at home against Swainsboro.
