ALBANY, GA -- Due to scheduling conflicts, Crisp County and Westover were playing their first region games of the year Friday.

A great pitching match-up between Westover's Robert Daniel and Crisp County's Davis Adkins goes in favor of the Cougars. Crisp County defeated Westover 6-0 at Paul Eames Park.

Adkins went the distance for Crisp County allowing no runs and one hit. Daniel struck out 15 batters and allowed two runs (one unearned), but left after six innings due to a high pitch count.

Westover Pitcher Nick Lane entered in the seventh inning giving up the final four runs of the game.

Both teams hop out of region play for their next games. Crisp County faces Spalding Saturday at 2 PM. While Westover faces Albany back at Paul Eames Park Monday at 5:30 PM.

Lee County Loses First Region Game

The Lee County baseball team entered its first region game of the season against Hardaway holding a two game losing streak.

Hardaway wasn’t faring any better heading in to their contest at Trojan Field. The Golden Hawks had lost five straight.

On Friday night, Lee County’s losing streak was extended to three games. Hardaway defeated Lee County 4-2 as the Golden Hawks pushed two runs across to break a fifth inning tie.

Lee County tied the game at two in the fourth innings due to consecutive doubles by Daniel Nichols and Andrew Stroud. Matt Mears appeared to break the tie with a drive up the middle, but a solid defensive stop by the Hardaway shortstop ended the rally.

The Trojans play another region game against Northside Warner Robbins Tuesday at 6 PM.
