CAMILLA, GA -- There's no time for tired legs with the Albany and Mitchell County boys basketball teams. Both squads will be playing in this weekend's U-Save It Pharmacy Classic. With the teams playing against each other on Friday night, there’s a possibility of playing four games in five nights.

If this were round one, the Albany boy’s team would be moving on. The Indians led 21-6 at the end of the first quarter and rolled from there defeating Mitchell County 46-34.

Albany’s Tim Pierce led the Indians with 14 points with forward Larry Sanford adding 12 points.

In Saturday’s classic, Mitchell County plays Monroe at 7 PM. While Albany High, playing in front of the home crowd, will face Terrell County at 8:30 PM.

Albany vs. Mitchell County Girls

Both the Albany and Mitchell County girl's teams were coming off a loss last Saturday- certainly the Albany Squaws weren’t feeling any effects.

The Squaws controlled most of the game over the Lady Eagles 63-46.

Squaw Head Coach Telly Turner characterized the win as an early Christmas present. Holiday vacation began for the school on Thursday, and Albany will not play again until the start of AA-Region 1 play.

Albany will travel to Fitzgerald on Jan. 3. While Mitchell County begins a tour of holiday tournaments next week.
