CAMILLA, GA -- The Westwood Wildcat football team defeated Randolph Southern 80-0 on Saturday night at Camilla’s Centennial Stadium. The 80 points is a Westwood School record, and it's that record that is drawing negative attention to the Wildcats.

Breaking the 11-year old offensive scoring mark hasn’t been seen as an accomplishment in some circles of the Georgia football community. Message boards have criticized Wildcat Head Coach Ross Worsham as being unsportsmanlike and for running up the score.

Leading 47-0 at the half, the team used a line-up predominately of younger players throughout the second half, but still scored five touchdowns in the second half.

The defending GISA-A State Champion Wildcats (3-0, 7-0) have defeated their opponents by an average of 45 points a game. Since a 40-27 season opening win against Southwest Georgia Academy, the Wildcats first team hasn’t been forced to play a full game. On Monday, Coach Worsham responded to the critics.

“You look at 80 to nothing…there's a lot of people that don't understand that…think that it's a classless deal,” Worsham said. “I guess I can see where people would look at that not knowing and understanding what's really going on...other coaches do...I think...we had no intention of going out and seeing how many points we could score.”

The Wildcats average 51 offensive snaps a game this season, but ran a total of 31 offensive plays on Saturday. Westwood faces Windsor Academy (2-0, 3-3) on Friday in Macon.
