ALBANY, GA -- The 2011 GHSA 100 meter dash winner found his college home, and it’s only three hours north on I-75.

Westover High School sprinter Reginald Lewis signed his letter of intent with Kennesaw State on Thursday night surrounded by family and friends.

“I feel like they (Kennesaw State) are able to improve me physically and mentally. Overall, I want to get faster, but I wanted to get more knowledge on how to run my races, correctly,” Lewis said.

Owls head coach Andy Eggerth snagged quite a runner for KSU.

Lewis accounted for 19 points at the 2011 3A state meet for Westover by himself. He placed first in the 100m dash, fourth in the 200m dash, and fifth in the long jump.

Patriots coach Harley Calhoun knew Kennesaw was the right spot for his dynamic sprinter.

“I think that all the time he felt that Kennesaw might be the choice for him, but he went up there and visited over the weekend and loved it. He went ahead and signed with them, and I felt good about it because I've had a lot of kids go to Kennesaw,” Calhoun said.
