ALBANY, GA -- It's not everyday that a NFL Hall of Famer and two-time Super Bowl winner strolls through Albany to play a round of golf.
But on Monday a NFL Hall of Famer and two-time Super Bowl winner strolled through Albany to play a round of golf.
Former Dallas Cowboy offensive tackle and Griffin, Georgia-native Rayfield Wright hit the links, and showed off some of his winning hardware at the Stonebridge Golf Course for the 100 Black Men of Albany’s 100 Golf Classic.
The annual 100 Golf Classic benefitted the children of the Dougherty County School System. The six-time pro bowler Wright was there for the 100 Black Men of Albany’s good cause, but was also willing to discuss the current labor issues in the NFL.
“I think they’re going to reach an agreement, but I don’t think it will be in the preseason. I think it will probably be during the regular (season),” Wright said.
These comments were made before Judge Susan Richard Nelson granted an injunction of the lockout for the players late Monday afternoon. However, with appeals likely, Wright’s thoughts may still hold weight.
“There is a lot more money in the game than when I was there. The players have their share of the funds, and it should be. Because nothing stays the same…everything changes in this life. And I’m not against those guys making that kind of money,” Wright said.
