LEESBURG -- No. 1 ranked Lee County knew it was in for a tough first round series when it drew Glynn Academy in the first series of the AAAA State Playoffs. They did not know it would be this tough.
Lee County, which lost just twice in the regular season, was swept at home in the opening round of the State Playoffs on Thursday. Glynn Academy scored three runs in the top of the first inning of game run, on a bases loaded double by Brandon Sharpe, on the way to a 4-2 victory. The Terrors did one better in Game 2, blanking Lee County 1-0. It was the first shut-out loss for the Trojans in 2009.
Lee County will not be advancing to the second round of the State Playoffs for the first time since 2006. The Trojans were ranked No. 1 in the AAAA Coaches Poll and No. 14 by Baseball America.
