ALBANY -- Despite a trip to the Championship Series one year ago, and a 15-1 record against GISA opponents, the Deerfield-Windsor Knights are nowhere to be seen on the GISA AAA Coaches Top Five. If things go well over the next couple of weeks, the Knights hope to prove those coaches wrong.
Deerfield-Windsor has flown relatively under the radar this season, winning 15 of 16 against GISA opponents on the way to a 15-3 record overall. The Knights only losses of the season came against Southland, 6-1 back in March, and a pair of losses in Alabama over Spring Break. Since that trip across state lines, the Knights have been unbeatable. The Knights have won eight straight games, while giving up just two runs per game over that span, with three shutouts. Head Coach Rod Murray says the Knights are not going to rest on their regular season laurels.
"Every team that is in the State Playoffs now is 0-0, no matter what seed we have, we're all 0-0," Murray said. "That means we all have to go out and do the little things right to keep going," he added.
Deerfield-Windsor will host Mt. de Sales in the first round best of three series beginning on Friday at 4pm.
