Monroe wins 10 of 16 track and field events

ALBANY -- The Lady Tornadoes thrived as Mother Nature tried to rain on the Region 1-AAA Track and Field parade. Monroe's Women's Track and Field team dominated the Region 1-AAA meet, winning 10 of 16 events to beat Westover for the crown.
The Lady Tornadoes claimed region crowns in the 4x100 meter relay, the 100 meter dash, the 100 meter hurdles, the 200 meter dash, the 300 meter hurdles, the 4x400 meter relay, the long jump, the triple jump, the high jump, the discus, and the pole vault. Monroe finished with a team score of 208.5, well ahead of Westover at 133.5.
The top two finishers in each event will advance to the AAA State Track and Field Meet at Hugh Mills, beginning May 14th.
