The City Tree Board and Keep Albany Dougherty Beautiful enlist volunteers about every three months, give them the tools to help, and release them to help clean up the town.
There are about ten locations around the city where crape myrtles are planted. Multiple volunteers, from Turner Job Corps and Albany State University, came together on a sunny, Saturday afternoon to give back to the community.
Jennifer Evans, a volunteer from Albany State University, says that she gives her time because "we are a part of the community, so it's best to keep the community clean and help encourage others to keep their community clean as well."
