Darton to offer prescribed burn manager and deer ecology courses

ALBANY, GA --
Darton State College
has announced two new courses to be offered this year; Georgia Prescribed Burn Manager and White Tailed Deer Ecology and Management.
Officials with the college say that the Georgia Prescribed Burn Manager course teaches participants the essentials needed to be a successful prescribed burner. The course covers many subjects, including how to draft a written plan for the burn, weather effects on fire, smoke management, and Georgia laws pertaining to prescribed fires. For full certification a participant must complete the two-day course, provide an affidavit of burn experience, affidavit of citizenship, and pass an exam.
Darton says that the White Tailed Deer Ecology and Management course will provide participants with a solid understanding of deer ecology and management; and include the latest research on deer behavior, scent communication, antler growth, genetics, and much more.
The prescribed burn course will take place April 16th and 17th with a fee of $95 and the ecology course is schedule for May 22nd and 23rd, with a cost of $290 and a one year membership to the Quality Deer Management Association.
