ALBANY, GA -- After 8 years on the board, Albany-Dougherty Inner-City Authority Chairman Andrew Reid presided for the last time during a short Thursday night meeting. Reid along with the board was updated by Downtown Manager Aaron Blair on the Pine Avenue Streetscape project, which needed approval of certain items before it could continue. Of the items considered was what to do with a room found during the tearing up of the sidewalk. The board debated over whether or not to fill the room completely for $59,000 or strengthen its beams for $39,000. Although more expensive, Reid says the board voted to fill in the room because it was more safe for the city, who may have had more problems in the future if they just patched the room's beams. After approving the $59,000 option, the board then voted Lenicia Hart to replace Reid as chair and David Prisant to replace Phil Cannon, who has reached the board's term limit, as vice chair. Reid says he believes he's leaving the board in a good place because they're headed in the right direction into restoring Downtown Albany.
