ALBANY, GA -- Need some last minute recipes to help avoid a kitchen disaster or help with that turkey? Melanie Kendall gets some tips from Winn-Dixie during the Thanksgiving morning edition of Good Day! Tune in at 5 AM!

Orange Glazed Baby Carrots – Serves 4
Ingredients

2 cups of packaged peeled fresh baby carrots
1 tablespoon of butter
2 tablespoons of orange marmalade

Directions
Cook carrots for about 5 minutes in boiling water
Drain the carrots and put back in saucepan
Add butter and orange marmalade
Continue to cook and stir for 2-3 minutes over medium heat


French-style Green Beans – Serves 6-8 (recipe works with brussel sprouts, spinach, cauliflower or broccoli)
Ingredients
16 ounce package of frozen, French-style green beans
2 tablespoons water
Drizzle of olive oil or melted butter
Possible Toppings (depending on what you have available or the time)
4 ounces Parmesan cheese, shredded OR
¼ cup slivered or slice almonds OR
½ red pepper, sliced and sautéed in oil OR
½ onion sliced and caramelized in butter

Directions
Put green beans in a bowl with water
Cover and microwave on high until cooked (about 7-10 minutes), stirring once
Once green beans are cooked to your preferred tenderness, drizzle with butter or oil
Sprinkle with one or more toppings


Mashed Potatoes in the Microwave – Serves 4-6
Ingredients
4 medium Russet, Yokun gold or white potatoes or 6 – 8 Red potatoes
Milk (taste)
Butter (taste)

Directions

Wash potatoes (peel if you prefer)
Microwave whole potatoes on high for 8 minutes
Mash and add milk and butter taste

Unexpected dietary restrictions?
Set some mashed potatoes aside
Donʼt add milk or butter, but flavor with herbs and spices like rosemary, fresh basil and minced garlic
This works for vegetarians, vegan and gluten-free guests
