THOMASVILLE, GA --
A Medical College of Georgia psychiatrist has received an award based on his student's feedback according to a press release issued by the Medical College of Georgia.

Dr.  A. Kenneth Fuller, a Thomasville, Ga., psychiatrist, has been selected the 2012 Outstanding Clinical Faculty Member for the Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior of the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Health Sciences University.

The annual departmental award for an outstanding volunteer clinical faculty member is based on third-year medical student feedback on their psychiatry clerkships rotations.  MCG students commented that Fuller is an enthusiastic educator and mentor with an instinctive ability and willingness to share his knowledge and time.

Fuller, a 1982 MCG graduate who completed a psychiatry residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, was named a Clinical Assistant Professor of psychiatry at MCG in 2006 and Clinical Associate Professor in 2009. He is a staff psychiatrist at Southwestern State Hospital and maintains a part-time private practice in Thomasville. He is board certified in general psychiatry and is a member of the American College of Psychiatrists.

Southwestern State Hospital is a teaching hospital for MCG’s Southwest Georgia Clinical Campus based at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.  In their clinically focused third- and fourth-years of medical school, MCG students live and learn alongside physicians throughout Southwest Georgia. Established in 2005, the Albany campus was the college’s first regional clinical campus in support of its mission to provide more physicians for the state. In 2010, the campus received residential status that lets students remain in the region for up two years.
