ALBANY, GA -- Children danced and sang along to music Wednesday morning as part of Fire Safety Week at the James H. Gray Civic Center. Dougherty County Superintendent Dr. Joshua Murfree began the event by speaking to the kids about the dangers of playing with fire before handing it over to fire officials. While the clowns and mascots may make the day look like fun, the children were taught important lessons about fire safety. This year's theme, have two ways out, encouraged the kids to keep a backup escape route in mind if the route to the front door is blocked. Organizers showed examples of the theme using skits and reenactments to help the children pay attention and understand.
