ALBANY, GA -- Congressman Sanford Bishop has entered the fight to save Albany's
downtown post office
.
In a report from their federal lobbyist, the city commissioners were told that Representative Bishop had written a letter to decision-makers. Officials will investigate the situation and, if nothing can be done, see if there is any way to at least save the PO. boxes for people and businesses already receiving mail there.
Commissioners are asking the public to call their local delegates to try to get someone down to Albany to explain why the decision to close this office was made. Commissioners say there was no communication with local government about closing the office.
