The three-pronged proposal includes recommending to express a desire to place commissioners on the library board, waiting until certain terms expire at the end of the year to do this in case some members want to be reappointed to board, and asking that the board give a report to the commission at least once a year as is mandated by state code.  / File

ALBANY, GA -- The Dougherty County Library Board of Trustees may soon see some changes.

The Dougherty County Commission heard a proposal Monday from Commissioner Gloria Gaines. The three-pronged proposal includes recommending to express a desire to place commissioners on the library board, waiting until certain terms expire at the end of the year to do this in case some members want to be reappointed to board, and asking that the board give a report to the commission at least once a year as is mandated by state code.

Gaines says they have never seen an update presented to the commission by the library board on the past. Gaines did say that if those terms that are set to expire get reappointed, they will look at the options of expanding the board in order to allow for one or two commissioners to sit on the board.
