DOUGLAS, GA --
UPDATE 9/24

Officials have identified the body as that of 28-year-old Michael Anthony Edwards.

Edwards' body was found in a wooded area on S. McDonald Ave, between E. Railroad St. and E. Baker Hwy., or GA. Hwy 158.

Officers did find a weapon near his body and determined his death was due to a gunshot wound to the upper body, but right now they are uncertain whether the gun found near Edwards was in fact the one that shot the fatal bullet.

We talked with the Coffee County Coroner's office Sunday who confirmed that the body would be taken to the crime lab in Macon for further investigation.
