ALBANY, GA --
The Dougherty County School Board Finance Committee approved a change in policy concerning contracts exceeding $40,000 Wednesday morning.

There were two conflicting policies, one that allowed a contract to be awarded without the board's approval and one that required approval.

The board agreed to change the policy so that if a contract is awarded outside or through the competitive process, it must be approved by the school board.

A new draft of the policy will be presented at the September 10 meeting.
