ALBANY, GA. --

During Tuesday night’s Albany Board of Commissioners meeting members discussed funding a study for a new multimodal transportation site.

Some board members want to take advantage of the millions of dollars offered by the government to pay for a new multimodal site; however, they will have to decide on a location.

The government paid for the first site study, but this time around the money for another site study will have to come from the city.

“If we're going to do that, we have to go through the hoops that are required that they had already funded once, that they're not going to fund again.  That being a review of multiple sites and then a more detailed review of an actual selected site,” says Wes Smith, Albany Asst. City Manager.

The issue has been tabled for further discussion.

Also during the meeting, a group of Albany residents approached the board of commissioners about a drug and rehab facility coming into their neighborhood.

The group is concerned that putting a facility in their neighborhood would bring down their property value.

They also say the people who stay in the rehab center may pose a safety threat to those who live in the area.
