ALBANY, GA -- A miscommunication led to a late start in voting in an east Albany polling precinct Tuesday morning.

FOX 31 received complaints that the polling station located at Phoebe East didn't open until 7:15 AM.

Election officials say there was a breakdown in communication between them and the gentleman who was supposed to open the doors this morning. The custodian who usually opened the doors has was retiring and the gentleman taking his place did not get the message that he was supposed to let the voting officials in this morning.

Due to this error, Dougherty County election officials appeared before Superior Court Judge Willie Lockette requesting a court order extending the voting time an extra 30 minutes for the Phoebe East precinct until 7:30 PM. Judge Lockette granted the extension.
