ALBANY, GA -- UPDATE: 3:15 p.m. 5/19/12

Police have identified the two passengers in the crash as 30-year-old Antonnius Carter and 28-year-old Trakethris Davis.

Carter and Davis, both from Dawson, died from the injuries they sustained during the crash that occured around 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police are still investigating what caused Carter to lose control of his 2008 Chevy Impala and strike the tree head-on.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Police say a tragic accident in the early morning hours has killed at least one person.

A gray Impala struck a tree head-on around 3:45 a.m. on Don Cutler Sr. Drive just past the Swift Street intersection.

The car caught fire after impact, killing at least one of the people inside but police say there were at least two people inside at the time of impact.

The Albany Police Department's Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
