SALE CITY, GA --
A Mitchell County farmer is helping sprout new possibilites for the Mitchell County 4-H Club.

According to the press release issued by Mosanto Fund, which sponsors Grow Communities, the organization gives farmers the opportunity to win $2,500 for their favorite local nonprofit organizations. Kent Grogan was the winning farmer in Mitchell County. Grogan recognized his local 4-H club’s need for funding and directed the donation to the Mitchell County 4-H.

“My wife is the 4-H coordinator and she does a great job helping to develop the future leaders of our community,” Grogan said. “I wanted to help her give these children educational opportunities that will help them to develop leadership skills.”

The organization will use the $2,500 to help purchase a new 4-H van.

“Our 4-H was in great need of this donation,” said Jennifer Grogan, Mitchell County 4-H county extension agent. “It's going to help us in a lot of ways and we are just so incredibly appreciative.”

In a ceremony held on April 10, Kent Grogan got the chance to present the Mitchell County 4-H with the $2,500 donation. Over $70,000 total has been donated to non profits in Georgia and a full list can be obtained from www.growcommunities.com
