Leesburg makes early morning drug bust

LEESBURG, GA -- A safety check ran by the Leesburg Police Department results in a marijuana bust.

Early Saturday morning, officers for the Leesburg Police Department were conducting a safety check point in the City of Leesburg. They made contact with 22-year-old Cameron Rycroft who was driving a white PT Cruiser.

Officers say they observed a clear glass jar between the legs of Rycroft that appeared to contain marijuana. Upon recovering the clear glass jar, it did in fact contain two clear plastic sandwich size baggies of marijuana. Upon searching the rest of the vehicle, three more clear plastic sandwhich size baggies containg marijuana were discovered in the drivers side door panel. There was $350.00 in cash with a rubber band around it with the marijuana located in the drivers side door. A further search located a bag of Pin-Up Herbal Incense, five empty clear plastic baggies and a portable digital scale.

At the time of the arrest, officers counted $446.00 on his person and upon being transported to the jail a more detailed search located a additional $191.00. Rycroft was in possesion of 3.1 ounces of Marijuana and $987.00 cash which was seiezed by the Leesburg Police Department. Rycroft was charged with possession of marijiuana with intent to distribute, possession of tools for the commission of a crime and driving while license suspended.
