ALBANY, GA -- Many people get caught in a workout rut, doing the same exercise and movements every day.
By never changing up your routine your body gets into a position where it understand, recognizes what’s going on and even expects what is coming next.
Always challenge yourself and change up your routine to keep your body and muscles in a state of confusion.
"General physical preparedness, or GPP, will allow you to be able to get yourself out of certain circumstance that you might not otherwise be able to do,” said fitness coach Kris Morrill.
GPP is the development of basic fitness skills, flexibility, strength, endurance and speed by doing functional, compound movements or working multiple muscle groups at once. It helps your body balance and build a base to be able to do the unexpected.
Unexpected situations come up every day in life. You may need to rescue your family from a burning building, or something more common like change a tire. GPP will help you do these things you don’t do in a typical day without injury.
