ALBANY, GA. -- The Southwest Georgia branch of United Way has accepted a financial boost from Publix.
Before a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, Publix presented the non-profit organization with a $26,000 check to use for charity endeavors. The Albany Area Chamber of Commerce also attended the event.
The president and CEO of Southwest Georgia’s United Way says Publix has become a generous sponsor. The check isn’t the company’s only contribution.
“That's on top of their employee campaign. So in total we received about $50,000 from Publix,” said Southwest Georgia United Way CEO and President Dwayne Miles.
The new Southwest Georgia branch is located at 112 North Westover Blvd. in Albany.
