Awarded for Traffic Safety
The Tift County Sheriff's Office was awarded with the Governor's Cup today for traffic safety. This is awarded to the law enforcement agency in the state of Georgia with the best record in traffic safety.
“This is the Oscar and Emmy’s of law enforcement in Georgia,” said Harris Blackwood, Director of Georgia Highway Safety. “This says to the people of this county law enforcement officers care and are making the highways and your community as safe as possible.”
The Governor’s Cup judges every agency in the state on three safety priorities: Occupant protection impaired driving and speed related offenses.
“We're not focusing our attention just on speeders. We’re reenforcing our seat belt laws, our child restraint safety laws, our equipment violations and our DUI arrests,” said Tift County Sheriff Gary Vowell.
