MACON, GA -- Two drug dealers in Southwest Georgia are on their way to federal prison.

41-year-old Sidney Whitfield of Albany, and 28-year-old Nathaniel Hodges of Americus, were both sentenced Friday after entering guilty pleas before U.S. District Judge W. Louis Sands

Whitfield was sentenced to 22 years in prison and Hodges was sentenced to 37 months in prison.

Drug agents searched Whitfield’s home in May 2009 and seized 932.2 grams of cocaine hydrochloride, 27.6 grams of crack cocaine, and $30,291.00 in cash. Whitfield pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute in excess of 500 grams of cocaine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Whitfield’s sentence was enhanced based on his prior convictions for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute in Dougherty County Superior Court. Whitfield admitted that he was involved in purchasing and distributing narcotics and that he sold both crack and powder and that he cooked the crack himself.

Drug agents executed a search warrant at Hodges’ residence in Americus in September 2009 and seized 8.3 grams of crack cocaine and 62.7 grams of powder cocaine along with $9,872.35 in cash. Hodges pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute in excess of five grams of crack cocaine.
