50-year-old Luther James Edwards is charged with rape and aggravated assault
MOULTRIE, GA -- Moultrie police arrest a man for allegedly raping one of his elderly relatives.
Moultrie Police Corporal Dave Underwood tells FOX 31 News that 50-year-old Luther James Edwards was arrested after his half-brother called police with information on Edwards' whereabouts.
Edwards was wanted for allegedly raping a female relative in her mid-60s. Edwards is accused of raping the woman on September 26.
Underwood says Edwards had been missing since late September and that he showed up at his half-brother's house Tuesday night. Edwards is charged with rape and aggravated assault. Underwood says additional charges may be filed in the case.
Edwards has a prior conviction on an armed robbery charge. He was convicted in 2000 in Colquitt County and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was released in 2009.
