ALBANY, GA -- After last year’s success, The Salvation Army in downtown Albany hosted its Second Annual Community Christmas Dinner.

Volunteers say they love celebrating the holidays with their neighbors and friends in the area.

Those who visited enjoyed turkey and dressing, cranberry sauce and pie. In the first 30 minutes of their Christmas dinner, the organization served close to 85 meals.

“Serving people, spending the holidays, having those kinds of celebration moments are really important and we just want to make it so people can have a chance together as a fellowship and a chance to spend time together and enjoy the holiday season,” says Corps Officer Capt. Doug McClure with The Salvation Army.

Just this year, The Salvation Army served more than 30,000 meals. The group never asks questions or turns anyone away for a meal.
