CORDELE, GA -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into possible wrongdoing at the Cordele Police Department

During a phone interview on Thursday, GBI Special Agent Trebor Randle in the Americus GBI office told FOX 31 News that Cordele Police Chief Dwayne Orrick requested the investigation.  Randle said Chief Orrick told the GBI that he had discovered money was missing from the evidence room at the police station.  Randle did not disclose how much money was missing or if anything else was reported missing, but did say that an independent entity is now conducting a full inventory and audit of the Cordele Police Department.

Randle said the GBI will have a much better understanding of the situation once the inventory and audit are completed.
