LEESBURG, GA -- The Lee County Commission’s Personnel Committee discussed next year’s employee health insurance plan.

The committee is recommending a plan that doesn’t involve too many changes for employee benefits. But the recommended plan could cost employees a little more.

An extra 2% will come out of their paychecks and into the reserve funds. County Administrator Al Crace says it will generate about $10,000, which will be used to fund a new wellness program. “Their good health habits will be a part of our management goals. We actually take it down to a sustained basis, not just get out a brochure and a sermon once a year. We need to get in there on a daily and weekly basis,” says Crace.

Officials say the recommended plan may cost a little more now, but in the long run- it means less claims will be made, and more money is saved.
