ATLANTA (AP) -- A pregnant woman from suburban Atlanta and her husband were among 131 people on a plane that crashed as it prepared to land in a storm on a Caribbean resort.
David and Carolina Bellino were awaiting transfer Tuesday from a hospital on Colombia's San Andres Island to a more advanced hospital in Bogota, Colombia's capital.
The Bellinos, who were on vacation, told morning news programs they heard a loud noise and then lost consciousness. When David Bellino came to, he opened the emergency exit, climbed onto the wing and pulled his wife through.
Carolina Bellino, who's seven weeks pregnant, says doctors told her the baby would be fine. David Bellino says doctors told him paralysis in his legs would likely be temporary.
Of the 131 people on board the Aires airline Boeing 737 jetliner, only one person died in the crash.
