Albany City Manager Al Lott announced his resignation on Wednesday.

ALBANY, GA. -- Albany City Manager Al Lott announced his resignation on Wednesday. Now Lott is speaking about his decision.

Lott gave Mayor Willie Adams a letter telling him his intentions to resign. However, he will stay on until July of next year.

Lott says he wants to help the city pass next year's budget.

“This is going to be a tough budget year, and regardless of what anybody says I don't think anybody can argue the fact that I have got the budgeting thing figured out and I want to get the city through that next year,” said Lott.

Al Lott has spent five years as city manager, he says he plans to move closer to his wife.
