Tips to survive pollen season provided
Many Southwest Georgians are miserable thanks to a high pollen count this spring. For instance, this year’s tree pollen count is seven times higher than last year’s.
Allergist Karen Strength says the worse is still to come.
“We still haven’t reached our summer season which is with the grasses and that’s when a lot of people have more problems,” said Strength.
Here are several tips to help allergy sufferers through the pollen season:
Keep windows closed in your home and car.
Do not use an attic fan for ventilation.
Schedule outdoor activities carefully; pollen counts are highest early in the morning.
Outdoor exercise in the evening is best.
Avoid going outdoors on windy days.
Avoid mowing lawns or blowing leaves.
Wash your clothes and your hair after being out in the pollen.
Wash your pet after being out in the pollen.
