Albany's adult entertainment stores will be under new regulation soon.
Howard Brown with Planning and Development says the City approved merging an ordinance from the City Code, and one from the Zoning Ordinance that will be called the "Sexually Oriented Business Ordinance." However, they can only regulate where the businesses are located, not so much what they sell.
“But it will regulate strip clubs. Strip clubs, places that sell video pornography and those kinds of things that would require them to be placed in certain zoning districts,” says Planning and Development director, Howard Brown.
Currently, Albany’s adult businesses are not allowed to be within one thousand feet of any school, church, playground or park.
