A jury convicts an Albany man for stabbing an Albany police officer at a local nursing home.

Assistant District Attorney Matt Breedon says 47-year-old Marion Sweet will serve ten years in prison and ten years probation. Sweet stabbed Officer McKinley Windom, Jr. six times in July outside Palmyra Nursing Home. The knife did not penetrate Windom’s bullet proof vest, and Windom was unharmed during the attack. The jury returned the guilty verdict Tuesday afternoon.

Sweet was found guilty of aggravated assault on a peace officer and felony obstruction.
