The Salvation Army of the greater Albany area kicked off its 2009 Red Kettle Christmas Campaign today.

Volunteers can be seen in front of the Albany Mall ringing their bells and raising money for charity. Volunteers say the recession has hit some wallets but many people are still willing to donate something. The fund raising effort has helped thousands of people in Albany.
