The City Manager's office is also seeking Georgia DOT funding
Kenneth Cutts from Congressman Sanford Bishop's Office spoke to the Albany City Commission today about federal funding for the Broad Street Bridge.
Cutts says they're trying to get the bridge into a transportation bill that is up for re-authorization. Assistant City Manager Wes Smith says the City Manager's office is working hard to get other funding in addition, namely from the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Mayor Willie Adams also added that even if they did have the money now, they would not be able to repair the bridge until they know more about the endangered "purple bankclimber" mussels that live in the Flint River near the bridge.
