Police are still looking for two men they say shot a Papa John's pizza delivery man in the head during a delivery turned armed robbery Friday night.
Police say 28-year-old Demeck Mathis is a person of interest in the armed robbery that happened in the 1500 block of West Gordon Avenue just after 10 p.m. Friday. 49-year-old Tim Monette was delivering pizza to that location and was asked to come inside. When he did, an unidentified black male wearing a bandana held him at gunpoint and demanded money. Monette was shot in the back of the head when he tried to escape. He is listed in good condition at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The two suspects fled the scene in Monette's black Chevy Cobalt. Police found the car yesterday afternoon. Papa John's Owner Stan Barber is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone with information which will lead to an arrest.
This is the second pizza delivery man robbed at gunpoint since May 30. Pizza Hut employee 24-year-old Jasaman Denson had his car stolen at gunpoint during a delivery on West Whitney Avenue.
