Albany Chamber of Commerce President Catherine Glover recently returned from a trip to China where she and other chamber presidents learned business practices and while forming relationships. Today she addressed Dougherty Rotarians about her tip and the current state of the Albany Chamber.
Glover isn’t afraid to admit her chamber needs improvements.
“What we’re not doing such a good job of is representing all of the business community. We’re not even beginning to hit the true business core which is the smallest of the small businesses,” said Glover.
So the Chamber is taking new initiatives to show their support to its 1,200 members.
“The compass project is going to be a listening opportunity for our chamber members, our board members in particular so we can learn the needs, and in return we can come back and we’ll respond to those needs to our smallest of our small businesses. The grass roots advocacy is huge and it is a new initiative for us. We’ve brought on a registered lobbyist who represents the interest of our business community. Besides that we have insurance programs, workers compensation discount programs” said Glover.
