Dougherty County Police and Chick-Fil-A promote seatbelt safety

For the next two weeks law enforcement in Dougherty County say there will be zero tolerance for those drivers caught without their seat belts.

Lt. Tommy Jackson says it’s all a part of their “Click it or Ticket” campaign.

“We won’t be giving warnings we will be issuing citations,” Jackson said.

But police weren’t that harsh this morning while spreading awareness, after setting up roadblocks they were giving free sandwich coupons from Chick-Fil-A for those who were wearing their belts.

“I think that it just adds to the excitement because most people when they see police officers or roadblocks they automatically get nervous regardless and I think that our cow just makes it a little fun,” said Unit Marketing Director Lisa Young.

Jackson says Dougherty County’s seat belt usage has dipped a little in previous years but it does stay somewhere around 90% and he plans to keep it that way.
