The Dougherty County Commission approved funding today for the code red alert system.

EMA Deputy Director, Jim Vaught says three thousand people signed up for the service since last Tuesday. 

This will up the total number to over 8500 people. 

Vaught tells Fox 31 that Turner Job Corps students have even volunteered to input numbers into the system as part of their curriculum.

The total cost of the code red system is $25,000.
